PROHIBIDO RECORDAR-not allowed to remember-
“There is no greater truth in the world than the delirium of love.” – Alfred de Musset
Love is absence. For desire is not a relation to an object but a relation to a lack.
We are what we remember. But we often try to forget. Sometimes, to ignore memories that hurt, people we long to, or feelings we should avoid. Other times, we are asked to forget.
“It is said that we should not remain fixed in the past, that life is lived forward. But our past is also our future, and both inhabit us in disorder.”
Love arises and dilutes, but memories remain. This series is about love, loss and longing. Prohibido Recordar explores how people process the memories they keep from their past romances. The images present a collection of emotions that weave feelings of lack and desire, romantic or unrequited love, attachment and detachment.
Like love, the images remain with their scars. Some have stains that block the full reading of them, while others are scratched by time or by persistent travel marks.
PROHIBIDO RECORDAR
